Ingredients
- 2 acorn squash
- 2 tbsp freshly squeezed orange juice
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 2 tbsp maple syrup
- 1 salt and fresh ground black pepper to taste
- 1 pinch of cayenne
Instructions
Use a knife to cut the squashes into half, then use a spoon to scoop out the seeds. Use a knife to make parallel slashes, 1/4 inch deep. Turn and go the other way, make some parallel slashes. Put the squashes in a baking pan, skin side down. Brush the top sides with orange juice. Drizzle some salt.
Bake in an oven at 400F for 30 minutes.
Add 1 tablespoons brown sugar, 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, 2 tablespoons maple syrup, some salt and fresh ground black pepper, and a pinch of cayenne in a pan. Give it a stir. Bring it to a boil, and simmer for 1 minute. This is the glaze.
After baking, remove the squashes, There is some liquid in th squashes, pour the liquid in a bowl. Brush the squashes with the glazed. Return the squashes in the oven, bake at 400F for 40 more minutes.
After baking, remove. there is liquid in the squashes. Spoon the liquid over the sides. Drizzle some salt on them.
