Recipe: Tangerine Cherry Cranberry Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 (12-oz) bag fresh cranberries
  • 1 cup small dried cherries
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon finely grated tangerine or orange zest
  • 1 cup tangerine or orange, plus water as needed
  • 1 whole star anise
  • 3 cloves
  • 1 cinnamon stick

Instructions

Step 1

Add 1 (12-oz) bag fresh cranberries,
1 cup small dried cherries (larger ones can be chopped a bit),
1 cup sugar,
1 tablespoon finely grated tangerine or orange zest,
1 cup tangerine or orange, plus water as needed,
1 whole star anise,
3 cloves,
and 1 cinnamon stick in a heavy duty sauce pan over medium high heat. Give it a stir. Bring it to a simmer. Turn the heat to low, simmer for 15 minutes.

Step 2

Cool to room temperature. Take out the star anise, cloves and cinnamon stick.
