Ingredients

  • 300 g rib eye steak
  • 60 ml olive oil
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 cast-iron grill pan

Step 1

First, Pre-heat the grill pan hot at a high heat

Next, coat both sides of the steak with a little oil, and seoson with salt and pepper. It would better to season your steak before you cook it. Or the salt with draw the moisture out of the steak. this affects the taste.

Step 3

when the grill pan is hot, place the steak onto it. Pour a little oil on the frying pan before adding the steak. Then cook the steak until the bottom is crispy and brown. Brush again with oil and turn it up side down. Do not turn the meat more than once. It makes it very tough. Now reduce the heat to medium.
The cooking time will depend on the type of pan you use, the steak's thickness, and how well done you like your steak.

Step 4

To test if your steak is done. Hold open your hand. For a rare steak, gently push in the fleshy part just under the thumb. The steak should have that same consistency. For Medium rare, push just slightly under the rare point. For medium, push half way down the fleshy part of your thumb. For medium well, slope down towards the dent in the wrist and gently push just before you hit the bone. And for well done, push onto the bone. Make the comparison, by prodding the steak with your tongs.

Step 5

When done, use a tong remove the steak from the pan and put it quickly onto a rack. This prevents the meat from steaming keeps it just as you cooked it. Rest the steak for a minute before serving. This allows the juices to disperse throughout the steak, enhancing its flavour.

Step 6

Serve it with French fries, vegetables, or even roasted potatoes.
