Recipe: Pizza Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 can whole peeled tomatoes - 28 oz
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 2 tbl olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
  • salt to taste
  • 1/2 tsp dried Italian herb mix
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • pinch sugar
  • small pinch baking soda

Instructions

Step 1

Open the tomatoes can, take out the tomatoes.
Cut each tomato into half, take out the seeds.
put all the seeds into a bowl. The seeds also have some tomato juice.
Use a strainer to strain the juice back in, and throw the seeds.

Step 2

Crush the tomatoes with your hands, or you can use a potato masher to do it.

Step 3

Add 2 tbsp olive oil into a pan over low heat.
When the pan is warm, add 3 cloves minced garlic.
Use a wood spoon to stir around until the garlic start to sing.

Step 4

Add 1/2 tsp dried Italian herb mix (basil, rosemary, thyme, marjoram, etc.),
1/2 tsp dried oregano,
and 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes.
Give it a stir. Dump in the tomato sauce. Stir well.
Add 1/2 tbsp salt, a little pinch sugar, half cup water, and small pinch baking soda. Mix well.
Simmer these on low heat for 30 minutes.
