Recipe: Mushroom Gravy

Ingredients

  • 1 pound sliced mushrooms
  • 1 quart beef stock or broth
  • 1/2 stick butter
  • 3 rounded tbl flour
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • fresh herb

Instructions

Step 1

Put 1/2 stick butter into a pot over medium heat.
When the butter is melted, add 1 pound sliced mushrooms.
Give it a stir, add a big pinch of salt.
Simmer for 20 minutes.

Step 2

Add 3 rounded tbl flour, saute for about 5 minutes.
Add 1 quart beef stock or broth. Give it a stir.
Turn the heat up, bring it to a simmer.

Step 3

Add some fresh herb (this is optional, I used Thyme).
Turn the heat to medium. Simmer for 30 minutes.
