Recipe: Homemade Pie Crust
Ingredients
- 12 ounces flour (about 2 1/2 cups)
- 2 sticks (1 cup) ice cold butter, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 7 tablespoon ice water
- 1 tablespoon cider vinegar
Instructions
Step 1
Take 2 sticks (1 cup) ice cold butter, cut into 1/2-inch pieces.
Step 2
Add 12 ounces flour, and the butter pieces into a food blender.Blend them well.
Step 3
Add 7 tablespoon ice water, and 1 tablespoon cider vinegar into a cup. Mix well.Add half of the vinegar and ice water mixture into the blender.
Turn it on, blend for a few seconds. Turn it off, add the rest of vinegar and ice water mixture.
Turn the blender on, let blend well.
Step 4
Pull the flour mixture out from the blender, and put on a board.Make them into a round shape. Cut it into half.
Make each half into round shape. wrap each half with a plastic.
Chill them at least 30 minutes.
Step 5
After that, take them out, unwrap and put one dough on a floured board.Use a round wood stick to roll the dough into 9-10 inch wide.
Put the dough on a baking plate. Add your apple pie filling.
Cover them with the other dough, and roll the side up.
Brush the top with egg wash.
Make some cut on the top.
