Recipe: Bechamel Sauce
Ingredients
- 1 quart milk
- 1/2 cup butter - 1 stick
- 1/2 cup flour
- salt and cayenne pepper to taste
- 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg
- 4 springs fresh chopped thyme
Instructions
Step 1
Put a pot with thick bottom on low heat.Melt 1/2 cup butter (1 stick) into the pot.
In a few minutes, there should be white foams at the top of the butter.
When the white foams are about to disappear, add 1/2 cup flour. Stir well.
Cook for about 6 minutes.
Step 2
Add 1 quart milk, some salt and cayenne pepper,1/8 tsp ground nutmeg, and 4 springs choppedfresh thyme.
Stir them on low heat, then bring it to a simmer,
simmer for 10 minutes.
